Why Solar?

Solar photovoltaics is the fastest growing renewable energy technology in the world. It offers a limitless supply of clean, safe, renewable energy, and produces zero emissions. Advances in technology have also enabled photovoltaics to become more affordable, more efficient, and more reliable than ever before.

There are tremendous advantages to harnessing solar energy for our homes and communities, including independence from imported fuels, a cleaner environment, a more diverse supply of energy sources, and relief from volatile energy prices.

When considering a solar system for your home or business, the first step is to determine your reasons for wanting a solar energy system.

The Environment

Solar Energy can positively effect our impact on climate change and global warming. Solar energy is clean, silent, and produces zero emissions. In fact, an average sized-home with solar power can offset over 10,000 pounds of CO2 emissions every year!

Energy Independence

Every day, more and more people throughout the world are discovering what a wonderful feeling it is to be producing your own electricity right at home. Imagine smiling in content when your utility raises electric rates, knowing that your solar electric system will only save you even more money!

A solar electric system with battery backup will also power your home even when the utility grid is down. Unlike generators, batteries are silent , require no fuel, and can be recharged by the sun.

Necessity

If a home is being constructed in a remote location, it may not be practical to bring utility power to the site. PV Solar power offers the unique option of powering the location without running wires from the nearest utility pole, which may be miles away. Very often, the cost of running a utility line just one quarter of a mile can pay for a home PV system.

Saving money

There are a wide variety of financial incentives that make solar electric systems more affordable than ever before. NY, NJ, CT are three states that offer a strong package of rebates and tax credits to help lower the cost of a solar electric system.

Solar energy can also save you money through net metering. This means that during the day, if your solar system produces more electricity than you use, your utility meter will spin backwards. Under NY, NJ, and CT net metering laws, utilities are bound by law to  "buy back" any excess energy that you produce.

While your solar electric system will not pay for itself overnight, it will pay for itself over time. Typically a solar electric system takes about eight years to pay for itself through avoided energy costs. Solar modules carry a 20-25 year warranty, meaning that the system will pay for itself nearly three times over during the life of the system.

So if you know you're going to be spending money on electricity anyway, isn't it better to do it in a way that will save you money?

Because you can.
We at ISI encourage you to join the growing number of forward-thinking people in the world and invest in the future.
